Regional Oximetry Sensors

SenSmart 8004C Series regional oximetry sensors use dual emitters and dual detectors to provide accurate cerebral and somatic tissue oxygen values. Along with advanced, patent-protected algorithms, these dual emitters and dual detectors create pairs of light paths through surface tissue and through the cerebral cortex, producing measurements that are proven to be the industry’s least affected by intervening tissue or surface effects. SenSmart 8004CB and 8004CB-NA pediatric sensors provide a single-sensor solution for pediatric patients less than 40 kg, simplifying protocols and inventory requirements and saving time and money.

rSO2 Accuracy (Arms*): 50% to 100% rSO2

Accuracy Right Left Both Hypercapnia Hypocapnia
Absolute 4.1 3.8 3.9 5.1 3.3
Trend 1.9 3.0 2.5 3.4 3.8

rSO2 accuracy testing was conducted during induced hypoxia studies on healthy, nonsmoking, light- to dark-skinned subjects in an independent research laboratory. The measured regional hemoglobin saturation value (rSO2) of the sensors was compared to arterial/venous hemoglobin oxygen (SavO2) value, determined from venous and arterial blood samples. The model used for blood in the brain was 70% venous and 30% arterial, which is applicable under normocapnic conditions. The venous blood was drawn from the right jugular bulb. The accuracy of the sensors in comparison to the blood gas analyzer samples measured over the rSO2 range of 45–100%. Accuracy data was calculated using the root-mean-squared (Arms value) for all subjects, per ISO 80601-2-61:2011, Medical Electrical Equipment—Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of pulse oximeter equipment.

SenSmart Model 8004CB Regional Oximetry Sensor

Absolute rSO2 Accuracy (Arms*): 45% to 100% rSO2 ±5.9%

Accuracy specifications are based on the measured regional hemoglobin saturation value (rSO2) of cerebral sensors calibrated to arterial / venous hemoglobin oxygen (SavO2) value, determined from venous and arterial blood samples from 44 subjects ranging in age from 4 days to 10 years. The model used for blood in the brain was 70% venous and 30% arterial. The venous blood was drawn from the right jugular bulb. The accuracy of the sensors in comparison to the blood gas analyzer samples measured over the rSO2 range of 45 – 95%. Accuracy data was calculated using the root-mean-squared (Arms value) for all subjects, per ISO 80601-2-61:2011, Medical Electrical Equipment—Particular requirements for basic safety and essential performance of pulse oximeter equipment.
